Shri Shri Kalu Sidh Baba
Sidh Peeth in Kaluwala village is popularly known as Kalu Sidh and among the one
the temple of famous Char Siddh Peeths of Dehradun. It is a local pilgrim place
and famous in nearby city devotees also. It is situated in a very dense
forest area near the river. There is a Shiv Ling also in the Kalu Sidh Peeth. It
is believed that in the fifteenth century, the Shiv Ling was established in
Kalu Sidh, which is under the open sky. Efforts to make the roof on this have
always been failing.
Kalu Sidh Baba is considered as a
Shiv Swaroop. It is believed by Kalu Sidh Baba devotees that they provide kids
to those who did not get kids after many tries. People get into Baba's shelter
to get rid of drunkenness too. When peoples purchase new vehicles then they
come here to get blessed by Shri Shri Kalu Sidh Baba. Former Uttarakhand Chief
Ministers Shri Harish Rawat Ji and Current Chief Ministers Shri Trivendra Singh
Rawat Ji both had already visited Shri Shri Kalu Sidh Peeth.
History of Kalu Sidh Temple
As per legends, in the Treta period
famous Saint Shri Atri Ji and Mata Shri Anasuiya lived. Both were very devotees
of the Trinity. Trinity was happy with the penance of both. The Trinity (three
God Bramha, Vishnu, and Mahesh) came to test the penance of Shri Atri Ji and
Mata Shri Anasuiya. Both were passed in the test taken by Trinity.
Then all three God Bramha, Vishnu, and Mahesh promised them they will take birth as their child. Later Mata Shri
Anusuiya gives birth to a baby boy. They named his son Dattatreya.
Dattatreya was a sharp-minded boy and the owner of many powerful powers. He
learns many skills and arts from his 24 Guru. Later he was famous as Guru
Dattatreya Ji.
For human welfare, he makes 9 Naths and 84
disciples and trained them. When Lord Dattatreya becomes old they instructed their disciples to go in all over India and penance of Lord Shiva. All 84
disciples went in all over India and started the penance of Lord Shiva for
getting powers for human welfare. The places where these disciples do penance
and got heaven, later famous as Sidhpeeths. Among the 84 disciples, the four
disciples Laxman, Manak, Kalu, and Madu Ji came in the Dehradun region.
Four Siddh Peeth Temples of Dehradun

Dehradun city has four Siddh Peeth among the 84 Siddha Peeth. These Peeths are
very famous in Dehradun as ‘Char Siddh of Dehradun’. All these Sidh Peeths are
situated at the outers of the Dehradun City. All four famous Siddh Peeths are

As per the belief of devotees, the person who visits the all 'Char Siddh of Dehradun' in a single day without
taking food, his wish will be fulfilled by the Baba. Laxman Siddh and Kalu Sidh

just in front of Kalu Sidh Peeth. There are Maa Durga and Maa Kali statues in
the Kalu Sidhpeeth where devotee of Maa Durga and Maa Kali worship these
Goddess. There is also a place you can break Coconut for offering there
Goddess.
Fair at Kalu Sidh Temple
Every year on the second Sunday
of June month there are huge fairs and Bhandara for devotees is organized by
the Kalu Siddh Mandir Samiti. This year in 2019 the huge Bhandara was organized
on 9 June and more than 40000 Shri Kalu Siddh devotees participated in this
fair and Bhandara. This annual function is so popular in local and nearby
city devotees.
Best Time to Visit Kalu Sidh Temple
Best time to visit Kalu Siddh
Temple will be the second Sunday of June month when the annual function of Kalu
Siddh temple is organized.
As per weather from March to April the environment of Dehradun is good. May and June some hot and in July the rainy season starts. So going to Kalu Sidh is from March to June would be best. You should avoid the rainy season and can visit from September to October.
The best time to go to Kalu Sidh is early morning in a fresh environment from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm. You can go in the evening also.
On the Hindu festivals,
especially on Mahashivratri Kalu Siddh temple is very crowded and a huge queue
of devotees are there for visiting the Kalu Siddh and Lord Shiv Shivling. In
Navratri, there is also a huge crowd since there a temple of Maa Durga and Maa
Kaali also.
Timing of Kalu Sidh Temple
Shri Shri Kalu Sidh Peeth opens
in the early morning at 06:00 am and closed in the evening at 07:00 pm. In the
afternoon from 01:30 pm to 02:30 pm for one hour, the temple is closed. The
total time duration for Kalu Sidh temple is one hour. In one hour you will be
easily visited everywhere in the temple.
Worship in Kalu Sidh Temple
Similar to other Siddh Peeth of
Char Siddh temple of Dehradun here the worship method is the same you have to
offer Jaggery (Gud) to Shri Shri Kalu Siddh Baba. The priest will take half of
the Jaggery and returned half to you. You have to tie the small Chunary to at its
place in the Kalu Sidh Peeth. Since there are Maa Durga and Maa Kali temple also
devotees take coconut and Prasad items which are offered to Maa Durga and Maa
Kali.

Facilities of Kalu Sidh Temple
- Lots of parking space is there but at your own risk. There is no parking stand for vehicles.
- Drinking water taps are available for the devotees.
- Washroom facilities are also available.
- There is only one Prasad shop near the main gate on the road where you can purchase Prasad.
- Food and snacks shops are not available near the Kalu Siddh temple.
Things to be Remembered at Kalu Sidh Peeth
- Leather items not allowed inside the Kalu Sidh temple such as a Purse, belt, slippers, etc.
- Keep your slippers at their stand.
- Don't use plastic items such as polyethylene here and there and use dustbins for that.
- Use Dhoopbatti and Agarbatti at their places only.
- Kalu Sidh Peeth gate is always closed, to avoiding the monkeys to enter the temple. You just open it, get entered, and close it again.
How to Reach Kalu Sidh Temple
Shri Shri Kalu Sidh Baba Sidh
Peeth is situated at the Kaluwala village near the Bhaniyawala. It is about
four km far from the Bhaniyawala Rishikesh Dehradun highway. It is approx 30 km
from the Dehradun railway station and ISBT Dehradun. From the Jolly Grant
Airport is only 11 km.
There is no direct bus, Auto or
Vikram is available for the Kalu Sidh temple. You have to go there by private
taxi or by your own vehicle. You can directly reach up to Doiwala there is a city
bus from Dehradun to Doiwala. Then you can book an Auto or taxi for Kalu Sidh
Peeth.
