Regional Science Centre is also
called Aanchalik Vigyan Kendra and is more popularly known as Vigyan Dham in
Dehradun. It is situated in Jhajra near Suddhowala. Regional Science City is
developed by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST)
and National Council for Science Museum (NCSM). The aim of Aanchalik Vigyan
Kendra is to popularise science & technology and scientific knowledge
among the students and common people. Whole-year students and common peoples
visit the Regional Science City Dehradun. There are lots of functions and
exhibitions organized during special occasions such as Science Day, Earth Day,
etc.
History of Regional Science Centre, Dehradun
Dehradun the capital of
Uttarakhand gets its first Science city on 3rd February 2016. It was
inaugurated by that time CM Shri Harish Rawat Ji. On the second anniversary of
the Regional Science city of Dehradun in February 2018, the Governor of Uttarakhand
inaugurated the Biodiversity Park in the Vigyan Dham.

Science Centre Dehradun
infrastructure is a very modern look and it looks so good from a distance. Regional
Science City is a very interesting place for science students and curious
people so for learning many things in one place it is the best option. On the
ground floor, you can see all the basics and fundamental science models. On the first floor, you can see the models of how the Himalayas and other mountains
formed.
In the Park, you can see the
various science models and Dinosaur models. Some of the models such as Gravity
Chair, Birding Cage, Musical Bar, Human eye model, Perspective House, etc. You can see
Uttarakhand traditional musical instruments also here.
Timing of Regional Science Centre, Dehradun
Dehradun Regional Science City
opens daily in the morning at 10:00 am and closes in the evening at 05:00 pm. In
summer it will be better to go early morning. But during winter you can go in the
afternoon time because it opens after 10:00 am only. The Lunchtime of the Regional
Science City is from 01:30 pm to 02:00 pm.
If you go there in the evening
you can miss the Taramandal or 3D show. Daily four Taramandal and 3D shows are
organized by the Regional Science City Dehradun for the visitors. The timing of Taramandal show starts at 11:30 am and the last show at 03:30 pm. The 3D shows
start at 12:00 pm and the last show at 04:00 pm. There is one hour gap between
each show.
Visiting Duration of Regional Science Centre, Dehradun
You will completely see all the
things and shows within 3-4 hours. You Don't miss the Taramandal and 3D show.
It is good for kids and students also. You can play and enjoy the science
and Dinosaur park also. There are many Jhoolas for the kids.

There is an entry ticket for the
Regional Science City. For the single student or public, it will be Rupees
110/- including entry fee, Taramandal, and science 3D show. For the group of
students and public persons, there is a discount on the entry ticket charge.

Summer Camp at Regional Science City, Dehradun
Regional Science City every year
organizes a summer camp for the students of classes 6th to 12th where they can
learn Robotics, Electronics, Crafts & Scientific Toy making, and Biological
Science. The summer camp is organized during the month of May and June every year.
How to Reach Regional Science City, Dehradun
It is around 14 km far from the
Dehradun railway station and 12 km from the ISBT. There is no direct city bus
or Vikram for the Vigyan Dhaam. You have to book a private taxi or auto for Science City. For reaching Science City own vehicle will be the best option.
If you come by city bus then the bus will drop you at Shri Balaji Dham at Chakarata Road from there Regional science city is approx. 2 km far away. You can walk on
foot or take an auto from there.

- There is no food court inside or outside of the campus of the Regional Science City. So you must carry some foodstuff or snacks with you for eating during a relaxing time.
- For a one-time visit, Science City Dehradun is good, especially for kids. It is a good place for visiting with family and enjoying there.
- I will recommend visiting Science City on weekends. There will be a good crowd in the Regional Science Centre Dehradun on Sunday and Saturday.
